After reading the article Why Japan is Building Its Own Version of ChatGPT, I’ve decided to take a look at how phone conversations in a professional setting are interpreted via machine. I have specifically used ChatGPT for translation.

Thoughts:

At first, I thought the LLM would do a good job at translating business languages as they tend to be monotone without much of cultural intricacies involved, but I did notice that for some phrases, the LLM fails to capture the politeness involved in the phrases - which might just be the limitation of the English language to exhibit humility, as verbs do not change depending on if you are taking to a senior or not.
